The documentary adaptation of Joe Simpson's harrowing memoir combines interviews with Simpson and his climbing partner Simon Yates with reenactments filmed in the Andes and the Alps. After climbing to the summit of Peru's Siula Grande, Yates was trying to lower his injured partner to safety when he had to cut him loose on the face of a glacier and drop into a crevasse to avoid dying with him.
