![]() Voyaging, Southward from the Strait of Magellan Rockwell Kent EXPLORATION 2000 PAPER 208 PAGES
Better known for his remarkable illustrations, Rockwell Kent was an avid explorer, sailor and keen observer of people and place. Of most interest to him were the wild, untamed places of the globe, both north and south. An antipodal companion to "N by E" originally published in 1924, this is Rockwell's account of a foolhardy voyage with a madman through magnificent Tierra del Fuego and south to the Horn in a jury-rigged lifeboat he picked up for $20. Both the text and striking woodcut illustrations communicate the wild glee of exploration and the dark splendor of Tierra del Fuego.
