Like all her books, this classic of life on an estate in Pomerania north of Berlin, was originally published under a pseudonym. A cousin of Katherine Mansfield and admired literary figure of her day, von Arnhim was later briefly married to the 2nd Earl Russell, brother of Bertrand Russell.
