The first volume in German author Robert Musil's unfinished epic masterpiece, set just before World War I in Vienna. Part of a two volume set restored with a new translation and including, for the first time in English, the complete existing text, it is the story of a former soldier who finds himself at the center of the crumbling Austro-Hungarian Empire.
