![]() Riska, Memories of a Dayak Girlhood Riska Orpa Sari Linda Spalding (Editor) CULTURAL PORTRAIT 2000 PAPER 302 PAGES
A captivating, personal account of growing up in the rain forest of Kalimantan. Riska, born in the Dayak village of Kudangan, captures ways of life along the Delang River, along with fast-disappearing local lore and tradition. Most moving is her description of the move as a school girl to the logging town of Pankalan. Edited by Linda Spalding (A Dark Place in the Jungle) who encouraged Riska to write her story and with an afterword by Carol J. Pierce Colfer, an anthropologist with a particular interest in forest cultures.
