One of Japan's most respected thinkers, Soetsu Yanagi (1889-1961) writes in this book of Japanese crafts, their integral place in Japanese society, and the expanding role of the craftsman. With 76 mostly black-and-white plates. It's an excellent overview of the foundations of the Mingei (folk-craft) movement in Japan.
