Out of America, A Black Man Confronts Africa

Out of America, A Black Man Confronts Africa
Keith B. Richburg
TRAVEL NARRATIVE •  1998 •  PAPER  • 288 PAGES

E-mail this pageE-mail this page Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

A tough, personal account of travels throughout Africa by a "Washington Post "reporter in Africa, based in Nairobi from 1991-1994. Richburg, whose previous experience had been in Southeast Asia, covered murder, war and coups in Liberia, Rwanda and Somalia. Provocative in the extreme, Richburg's book has unleashed a great deal of criticism and comment (partly for distancing himself from anything African). He does not think Africa is a very nice place and that we are partly to blame.  (AFR134, $14.00)
