Out of America, A Black Man Confronts Africa

Out of America, A Black Man Confronts Africa

by Keith B. Richburg

  • TRAVEL NARRATIVE
  • 2009
  • PAPER
  • 258 PAGES

A tough, personal account of travels throughout Africa by a "Washington Post "reporter in Africa, based in Nairobi from 1991-1994. Richburg, whose previous experience had been in Southeast Asia, covered murder, war and coups in Liberia, Rwanda and Somalia. Provocative in the extreme, Richburg's book has unleashed a great deal of criticism and comment (partly for distancing himself from anything African). He does not think Africa is a very nice place and that we are partly to blame.  (AFR134, $14.95)
