In 1903, the adventurer (and imperialist) Sir Francis Younghusband invaded Tibet, then went on to become a mystic, attack Mt. Everest, and discover the source of the Indus River. French traveled through the Himalayas, Kashmir and Tibet to unearth the extraordinary story of this key figure in the Great Game, Britain's scramble for Central Asia. The book won the Somerset Maugham Award and the Royal Society of Literature Heinemann Prize in Britain. French is a director of the Free Tibet campaign, and a former editor of Tibet News.  (TBT75, $16.00)
