Jimmy Carter wrote the introduction for his grandson Jason's memoir about working in South Africa for two years as a member of the Peace Corps and living with a South African family. This is essentially a story about an American abroad, with all the familiar struggles with language (Carter learned both Zulu and Siswati during his stay) and assimilation, but this book has an added political element, as he observes life among the South Africans in the late 1990s as they were rebuilding their lives after the era of apartheid.  (SAF146, $14.00)
