![]() Summer's Lease John Mortimer MYSTERY 1991 PAPER 288 PAGES
A well-paced mystery set in the Tuscan countryside, by the author of Rumpole of the Bailey. A woman and her family rent a Villa for the summer, and things start to go wrong. Mortimer sets the slightly off-kilter, knowing and wholly entertaining tone with the first sentence: "The woman walked round the corner of the house and saw a snake consuming a large Tuscan toad."
