A coming of age tale largely set in the wilds of Northern Manitoba. Fourteen-year-old Noah spends much of his time exploring his wilderness environment, but the death of his friend sends him to Toronto. With his sparse prose, Norman evokes the harshness of northern Canada. First published in 1987, it was a National Book Award nominee. Norman has written a number of novels about Canada including The Bird Artist (NFL06) and The Museum Guard (CND40).
