This adaptation of a Karen Blixen story won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1998. In it, Babette -- the French woman who shares a house with two conservative and religious sisters in 19th century Jutland -- prepares a feast for her neighbors before heading home. The film captures the joys, rhythms and prejudices of life in rural Denmark.  (DMK29, $14.95)
