Hooper (Antarctic Journal) tells of rapid climate change and specifically of Antarctic warming, through the dramatic tale of a group of scientists and their work in a colony Adelie penguins. Much of the book focuses on the work of penguin biologist Bill Fraser at Torgersen Island. A writer on the National Science Foundation Artists & Writers Program, Hooper spent two Antarctic summers working at Palmer with seabird ecologists.
